Calahonda is a small municipality, located at the Costa Tropical (coastline of the province of Granada).

40m wide and 1200m long, its beach is very popular.

Lars and I had passed Calahonda many times. Finally, at the beginning of this month, we spent a day on its beach.

First, a short walk.

Next priority, beach bar. Admiring the view.

First round, coffee for the Viking and “tinto de verano” for myself. This is a combination of red wine and lemonade. Sounds terrible, but it’s actually delicious and refreshing. Tapa of grilled fish.

Next round, grilled seafood and boquerones (anchovies).

More views…

There is always room for dessert, especially when chocolate is involved…

…and a brandy!

One last look…

Calahonda may be small, but does have enough hotels, bars and restaurants to choose from. There is also a diving center.

COVID-19 updates:

  • New state of alarm in the whole of Spain until May 9 2021.
  • Andalucia has closed its borders.
  • All municipalities in Granada, Sevilla and Jaén have closed their borders as well. At least, until November 9. In other words, no excursions for us!
  • Shops, bars, supermarkets, schools, … remain open. We can still have a drink and tapas.
  • Curfew in the whole of Spain from 11pm to 6am.

There are many ways to spend a perfect day, and this is one of our favorites. What about you? How do you like to spend it? Let us know in the comments!
