We’re back in Spain for our post of today, but not in the province of Granada, but its neighbor Malaga.
Comares is not just any “white village”, it’s the one of the highest in Andalucia (more than 700 meters high). It’s just one hour away from Malaga and if you like sea and sun, you can go to Torre del Mar (30 minutes by car).
The main plaza
It’s the first thing that you see upon arrival. Small and cute! The bar La Plaza offers cheap big beers and tapas. Next to it is a hotel.

Parking your car here is as good as impossible, but you can get rid of your car on the main road that leads to it.
Next to the plaza is a mirador (viewpoint) where you can enjoy some stunning views…

Explore the narrow streets

We liked Comares so much, that less than a month later, we were back.

Torre la Tajona
Comares was in Moorish hands until the end of the 15th century, when Catholic kings took it back.
The “Torre” is actually the remains of a castle; next to it is a cemetery.

The first picture is by far one of my favorites of 2018. You can see most of the village with its 1500 people. Amidst the narrow streets should be two other plazas and the local church. There is a Moorish trail that you can follow, which takes about an hour (map at the town hall). We only followed a part of it. By the way, Comares is very picturesque, but does not attract too many tourists.
As we have said before, there is a hotel at the main plaza, but to be honest, it’s not the cheapest. If you are a budget traveler too, it’s better to check booking.com.
We will dedicate our next post to our 2,5 years in Spain! And next week, we will take you also to Odessa!
What about you? Do you want to wander in the streets of Comares as well? Have a cold beer at La Plaza? Admire the views? Let us know in the comments!
This looks like a amazing place to visit – great pictures!
